Voice Over and Acting Background

Cynthia Zeiden has studied voice, singing and acting since age 6 in 1973 when she studied at Tom Thumb Players with Lester Netzky in Chicago. The theatre changed ownership and became Philbins' Little Theatre. Cynthia studied there with Cynthia, Jill and Vivien Philbin until the facility went out of business when she was 13 years old. Over those 7 years, she appeared in several plays including: "The Wizard of Oz" (Dorothy), "Oliver" (Artful Dodger), "The Importance of Being Earnest" (Cecily Cardew), "Annie Get Your Gun" (Jessie) and "The Miracle Worker" (Helen Keller).

From 1981-1983, she was a Drama/Speech major at Lincoln Park High School in Chicago where she studied Inprovisation and acting. There she appeared in "Tell Me That You Love Me, Junie Moon" (Gregory) and was a member of the Forensics Team in the Prose category. Cynthia and two other students won first place in the Acting category in the Chicago Public Schools' "Stages of Shakespeare" contest for portraying the three witches scene in "Macbeth." She also won awards in the Extemporaneous Speech category in other Chicago Public Schools competitions.

In 1983, Cynthia appeared in the Skokie J.C.C.'s production of "South Pacific" (Nurse Sue Yeager). When she attended Northern Illinois University, she appeared in the chorus of "Carnival." She studied Oral Interpretation and participated on the Debate Team winning the Semi-Finals in the CETA curcuit at a debate tournament at the University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana.

Cynthia appeared in her last play, "Bus Stop," (Grace) in 1994 at Daley College in Chicago.

Her voice-over career started when she worked at KCSM-TV (PBS) as she voiced several promotional spots for special theme months and special programming blocks. She also voiced an underwriting spot for the sixth season of the public television series, "Sit and Be Fit."
